Lionel Messi is without any doubt the best attacking player in PES 2011. This striker has fast dribbling skills, superb technique and high accuracy shooting on goals. To complete Messi overall ability, he also have strong body balance which make him almost impossible to defense.

So you got a killing machine in your hand when Messi in have the ball. I see a lot of people playing Messi the wrong way. All they do was dash Messi from the side in to penalty box and shoot.
Yes, he can pass one or two defender easily with his solo run. But to use it multiple time in a roll would make it predictable. This is easy to defence, because the opponent will predict this move and counter it.
PES 2011 is not about one player game, it's a team of eleven player that you had to manage in order to win. That include attacking strategy. Remember, Messi have attacking partners such as, David Villa, Pedro, Iniesta and Dani Alves that you can use to make Messi job easier to score goals. Use them to open up a gap that Messi can use to make a penetration move.
Messi best position is as second striker that operate in side or wing player. This way he will only facing a side back, which usually more weak than centre defender. You can pass a side back easily, but next you will confront centre defender. This is when you need to slow down if you were dashing Messi, move it to the left or right then create a suprising move to pass the centre defender. After that, is your choice to make a goal scoring oppurtinity. Pass the ball if you see an open team mate that have a better chance of scoring goal, don't force Messi to shoot blindly. It must be a real chance to score goal if you're going to shoot the ball. Do not waste a good attacking move with a poor finishing, each chance must end with a goal, that's my motto when attack.
